1 Prepare the materials needed
To make banana-flavored buns, the ingredients needed are divided into two, namely the dough for the buns and the filling in the form of banana-flavored cream. These materials include the following.
Bakpao dough ingredients:
2 Make banana cream for the dumpling filling
To make banana cream, first, mix together two egg yolks and the appropriate amount of sugar. Stir the two ingredients until evenly mixed. Then add the cornstarch. Then stir again until smooth. After that, add the warm banana milk little by little. Stir again until smooth.
Next, cook all the ingredients using medium heat. Cook until boiling and thickened. Once cooked, remove and pour into the mold. Put the banana cream that has been printed earlier in the refrigerator to harden.
3 Make the bun dough
Prepare a large container. Put the flour into the container. Then add sugar, salt, and dry yeast according to the measure. Then add banana milk and yellow food coloring according to taste. After that, mix all the ingredients using a mixer. Once mixed, add the unsalted butter according to the measure. Knead again until the dough becomes smooth.
After the dough is finished, shape the dough into a large round. Divide the dough into eight parts. Then, shape the eight parts of the dough into a round. Then let stand for 15 minutes until the dough rises.
4 Fill the bun dough with banana cream that has hardened
After the dough has risen, flatten it and add the hardened banana cream filling. Cover the dough again until it is round. Make sure to seal the dough tightly so that when steaming the banana cream does not leak. Do the same steps for the eight dough buns earlier. When finished, let the dough buns stand for 15 minutes until they expand.
5 Steam the buns until cooked
After the dough has risen, put it in the steaming pot. Previously, put baking paper under the bun dough as a base so it doesn't stick when steamed. Then steam the dough for 15 minutes. Once cooked, remove and serve while warm.
