Getas is a traditional snack made from glutinous rice flour and coated with sugar. This snack is similar to gemblong, but the coating uses granulated sugar.
Getas is suitable to be enjoyed as a snack with coffee because it tastes sweet. In addition, the texture is soft, tender, and slightly chewy.
For more details, follow the soft brittle recipe from the book "Indonesian Cakes: 165 Recipes of Popular Indonesian Confectionery" (2015) by Yasa Boga published by PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama below.
This recipe uses additional whiting water to make it durable and not hard. But if it's not there, just skip it.
Soft brittle recipe
150 grams of granulated sugar (can be replaced with brown sugar or mixed)
50 ml water
How to make soft brittle
1. Mix all ingredients except coconut milk in one container, knead until smooth. Pour the boiling coconut milk little by little while stirring.
Do this until the dough can be kneaded and shaped.
2. Round the dough the size of a chicken egg and then flatten a little.
3. Fry the dough in medium hot oil until golden brown. Drain and set aside.
4. Sugar icing: Bring water to a boil, add sugar and cook until dissolved, thick and foamy. Reduce the heat, add the spongy balls and stir to coat well
